CHOIR

We are a non auditioned choir and encourage adults of all sexual orientations, genders, and singing abilities to come out and sing with us. Share the joy of singing and become a part of a community.

REHEARSALS

Rehearsals are held in person from 10:00 to 12:00 PM on Saturdays at the Pacific Gardens Co-Housing Community at 347 Seventh Street in Nanaimo. Masks are optional but we encourage anyone who is ill to stay home and watch the livestream of rehearsals. Fall session kicks off September 12 2026 with an orientation and welcome barbecue. New singers can join up until October 31st, space permitting, and can attend 2 free sessions before confirming registration.

REGISTRATION

Due to space issues, we are continuing to cap the number of singers at 50 people for the Fall term. Early registration is available to current singers and volunteers between August 20th and September 3rd. You are eligible as a current singer or volunteer if you sang or volunteered with AVIVA in the 2025-26 year.

New Singers interested in joining AVIVA can click on AVIVA Prospective Singer Application in top menu bar to indicate interest to be added to our waiting list. We will contact prospective new singers after September 4th in order of application and to fill avalialbe spaces in each section. 

If we have a large number of people that we cannot accommodate in the Fall term, the board will consider options for expansion in the Spring term (starting January 2027). Please complete the application process so we know the level of interest.

FEES

The costs to participate are per singing term. 2025-26 Costs  are $20 Annual Membership Dues, plus $100 Fall Term Singing Fee and $120 Spring Term Singing Fee. We provide installment payments or partial to full subsidies for those who don't have the financial means to pay the full fee. Contact [email protected] for further information on the subsidies

CONCERTS

AVIVA major concerts are held two times a year: in December and May-June. We also perform in the community, for example Nanaimo Pride Flag Raising. Visit our Events page for more information.
